My name is Scott D. Young. I am a Co-Founder, President of the Board, and Program Director for Culture Connection.

I have spent my career in higher education as both a campus chaplain and adjunct instructor. I am passionate about pursuing intellectual curiosities and spiritual adventures. I love L.A., the cinema, books, cities, religions, kindred spirits, and all things cultural. I am full of wonder and awe at a vibrant world and the possibility of human flourishing. I am often disturbed and distressed at inexcusable wealth inequality, violence and war, social injustices terrorizing our cities, and all manner of cultural and political conflicts. I am mobilized to address these protracted struggles through education and activism, as well as prayer and contemplation.

I am married to Kathie, a public school teacher. I have three young adult children: Joshua is a chef in Long Beach, Lindsey is a social worker in East L.A., and Ashley is a kindergarten teacher married to Robbie who is an accountant. I am grateful for many spiritual friendships and cultural companions.
